In his role as Managing Director, David is responsible for developing all aspects of Wilde CFD business, including leading and enhancing the management team. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in implementing business systems and processes to provide customer focused sollutions in all aspects of Wilde CFD's provision.
As a respected engineering practioner, with many years experience, David has worked as an Interim Director for a number of Wilde's clients. He also serves on a number of industry groups, including the UK Steering Group and the Analysis Management Working Group of NAFEMS.
After becoming a Mechanical Engineering graduate and a Chartered Engineer he completed a Technical Apprenticeship and worked on the design and analysis of construction machinery before joining Wilde FEA in 1986 as a Senior Engineer. During his time at Wilde David has been responsible for introducing a number of leading CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) products into the UK and European markets. He has also nurtured Wilde's "Off-Shoring CAE" services which includes sub-contractors based in India.
“It doesn’t matter what the application is: it’s really all about quickly grasping fundamentals and using the resulting insights to help the client solve the problem, improve the process or optimise the product”. |

The Wilde CFD team is headed by Dr Simon Leefe, whose extensive knowledge of fluid mechanics and long background in industrial problem-solving across the applications and disciplines ensure that we offer a first rate service to all our customers, in consultancy, training and technical support.
With an Oxford University degree in Engineering Science, practical and professional training with GEC Turbine Generators and a PhD in blood flow though artificial heart valves, it was always clear that Simon had a passion for applied physics, but wasn’t going to be pigeonholed into a narrow specialisation. His first “proper” job was as a research engineer with TI Research, near Cambridge, where he rapidly made significant contribution to the Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer group – largely supporting the mechanical seals and domestic appliances parts of the business.
His grasp of both mathematical modelling and practical design inevitably propelled him towards simulation and his next appointment, as a project engineer at the British Hydromechanics Research Group, drew heavily on both this and his background in fluid sealing: his first project was developing software to simulate rocket engine turbopump shaft seals for the European Space Agency.
As CFD packages became commercially available, Simon adopted a pivotal role as manager of the engineering analysis and simulation group, which afforded the opportunity both to validate CFD models and to offer consultancy to a wide range of clients across industries as diverse as chemical processing, medical diagnostics and wastewater treatment, among many others.
Simon joined the Wilde Group in 2006, specifically to take its CFD activities forward. As a multi-disciplinarian by nature, with wide experience in modelling diverse physical systems, he is ideally placed to take advantage of the multi-physics capabilities made possible by the latest generation of ANSYS products.
"It is vital for me that my sales and marketing team are geunuinely enthusiastic about engingeering software and understand the technology in-depth. I believe our clients choose to work with us due to our technical knowldge and consultative approach to their problems as well as providing leading software products." |

With over 20 years experience in engineering, Brian heads the Sales & Marketing team, responsible for the promotion of all software, training and consulting services and client communications. Following an apprenticeship with the Dowty Group and a first degree in Mechanical Engineering, he started as a Product Development Engineer at Dowty Seals in 1992, involved in the finite element analysis of elastomeric sealing components. Deciding to pursue a career in CAE technology, he returned to academia to undertake an engineering doctorate research programme at UMIST, developing a new large deformation, viscoplastic finite element program for ABB Daimler Benz.
Brian has focused on business development activities since joining Wilde in 1997. Initially dedicated to bulk and sheet metal forming simulation, he conducted a number of consulting projects and training courses for a wide range of automotive, aerospace and defence companies including Jaguar, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce and Qinetiq. For the last 5 years, he has focused on providing CAD-integrated ANSYS FEA and CFD software and training solutions to consultants, SMEs and large enterprises.
“The FEA method is the most powerful technique available to investigate engineering and physical phenomena. It can provide an unparalleled insight into physical behaviour, enabling robust and efficient solutions to engineering problems.”

The complementry Wilde FEA team is headed by John Dennis who is committed to providing a top quality consulting service with a friendly ‘work with the client’ approach. The emphasis is on applying advanced modelling and analysis techniques to provide ‘real world’ engineering solutions to Wilde FEA clients.
John is the Technical Director of Wilde FEA and is a Chartered Engineer, and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He joined the Wilde team in 1986 and has 30 years experience in the field of engineering structural design and analysis. He previously worked in the large diesel, gas turbine, automotive and nuclear industries.
Working across all industries, John and his team have worked with countless companies, on projects ranging from a few days to several years. This work may be at the early design stage, or during project development. In addition forensic studies after component failure, design modifications, and third party assessments are regularly performed.
The challenge to solve client engineering problems, and to provide practical solutions, is what motivates John and his team to provide a top quality service which has been the hallmark of Wilde FEA for nearly 30 years.
